My extra large pink cap that holds my big braid (did you think I was going to say brain?) screams "serious swimmer about to enter the pool,” goggles that make my eyes look comically huge, poised at the edge of a pool. This isn't just my daily 3,200-meter swim – it's my aquatic billion-dollar idea incubator.
Last Tuesday, as I slunk in to take my usual laps, I had no idea I was about to crack the code on redelivering education for a client who has a mission to make his six-year-old kid and other children robot proof. Somewhere around the 1600 mark, it hit me, the AI factory he needs.
How Water Becomes Workflows
This substack is a periodic conversation with my friend
. Her doing is writing. Mine is developing “solopreneur billionaires” - people and businesses that understand AI enables new ways to do themselves or their work better. I published two best selling books (one on AI and another on Dementia) in less than four weeks. A biotech researcher I know developed 10 proteins in minutes using AI for a cancer drug. The Solopreneur Billionaire comes from CEO Sam Altman’s notion that we are in an age where AI will enable a person or small team to compete head to head against large enterprises. For me that approach is a doorway for redefining the paradigm of doing. How do you redefine yourself and what you do when you have access to the vast intelligence and insights in AI? (More on the Solopreneur Billionaire here.)
Why the pool, you ask? Like the hubbub of Ashley’s coffee shops, it is a place where I find that sweet spot where physical rhythm meets mental flow. Each stroke or each lap is a node in the AI factory I'm building in my head.
There's something about the repetitive nature of swimming that frees up mental bandwidth for innovation. My body goes on autopilot, and suddenly, my mind is hosting its own little startup incubator on behalf of my clients.
The Memory Palace of Execution
Unlike my friend Ashley's coffee shop scribbles, I can't exactly whip out a waterproof laptop mid-backstroke. So I've had to get creative about preserving and executing these aquatic inspirations. When I get somewhere good, I pop out of the lap and talk to my Great Idea Why Can’t I Remember customGPT who helps me get things out of short term memory so I don’t lose the thought.
For those of you out there seeking to turn ideas into billion-dollar realities, consider this: your path to execution doesn't have to involve sleepless nights or endless meetings. Find your equivalent of my swimming pool – a space where your body can be occupied while your mind builds empires.
Action Steps for Execution Flow:
1. Identify repetitive activities that spark creativity (swimming, walking, knitting)
2. Set aside dedicated time for this idea-generating activity
3. Enter with specific business challenges in mind
4. Develop your own techniques for capturing and organizing thoughts
5. Follow up your session with immediate action steps – remember, execution is everything
The AI Factory: From Thought to Reality
In this age where knowledge is ubiquitous, the true power lies in execution. That's where my AI factories come in. Like the water I swim through, these factories are fluid, adaptable, and powerful. They're designed to take your ideas and turn them into actionable, scalable realities.
This approach to business and creativity is part of an ongoing dialogue with my friend Ashley. While she finds inspiration in coffee shops and embraces permanence through tattoos, I'm all about chlorine and changeability. We're both on a journey of reinvention, challenging the ways society tries to box in entrepreneurs and creatives.
The Solopreneur Billionaire life to me is not about the AI itself; it's about how quickly and effectively you can execute your ideas. My swim-inspired AI factory building sessions are exactly that – turning the nebulous into the tangible, the imagined into the implemented.
